Earlier today, some students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH,  posted an obituary of their current Vice Chancellor, Professor Sulaiman Gbadegeshin , as a way of showing their displeasure over the lingering strike action in the school. Academic activities in the school have been on standstill for many months now due to a faceoff between the staff of the school and the Osun and Oyo state governments that are co-owners of the school. The lecturers are demanding the payment of the arrears of their salary that amounts to N7.1 billion.

The Kano State House of Assembly has set up an 8-man committee to investigate the allegations levelled against the Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, bordering on alleged misappropriation of funds. Flamboyant Emir of Kano and former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Muhammadu Sanusi II is in trouble and may be dethroned anytime from now by the Kano state government. To actualize the plan, the Kano State House of Assembly has launched an investigation against him over alleged abuse of office and improper conduct. The emirate council is already being investigated by the state anti-corruption agency over allegation of financial fraud running into billions of naira. The House on Wednesday, constituted an 8-man committee to investigate eight offences allegedly committed by the emir. Witness Slumps, Dies While Giving Evidence In Lagos Court

An Ikeja High Court was on Thursday thrown into confusion after an unnamed witness slumped and died in the court just before testifying before Justice O.A. Olayinka in a land case. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the deceased, who was in his late 30s had come to testify in a land dispute. “Before the case was called for trial, he started coughing and gasping and had to leave the courtroom. “He was vomiting a lot of blood and onlookers were scared to go near him. “He collapsed on the corridors of the courtroom and a medical team came in an ambulance to take his body away. “His lawyer informed Justice Olayinka of his client’s death and she immediately stopped proceedings for the day,” a witness said. FUTA in joyful mood as Minister suspends VC, Registrar

There was spontaneous reaction yesterday over the suspension of the embattled Vice Chancellor (VC), Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Prof. Adebiyi Daramola by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu. It was a moment of joy as FUTA campus was thrown into ecstasy with workers exchanging pleasantries on the development. Prof Daramola was suspended alongside the Registrar, Mrs Modupe Ajayi. The chairman of the Joint Action Committee JAC of the University and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities SSANU ‎Dele Durojaiye confirmed the suspension of the duo by the minister. Durojaiye, however, said details of their suspension had not been communicated to them. The VC and the Bursar, Emmanuel Oresegun have been dragged to court by the EFCC over alleged mismanagement of the institution funds.
